Blue by Design

So after four anatomy classes today and a Law and Governance foundations class (all back to back) I left school feeling tired and drained beyond belief. So I pretty much came home looking forward to a relaxing evening and hoping for something to make me smile. I was checking my email and guess what greeted me? Why, Mr. Choo in all his wondrous glory of course!! It was a 'Pop of Colour' promotion and of course my search option was blue *smilessheepishly* "I simply remember my favourite things and then I don't feel soooo baaadddddddddddd" (admit it, you chuckled at least a little *fingerscrossed*)

Now as for the last shoe I don't usually go for opened toed shoes just because they seem to hurt my toes, but they absolutely had to make it here tonight. Aren't they just fantabulous?! These items definitely brightened up my night. Have a wonderful weekend lovelies...:-)

Yours,

Oooh la la Monsieur Choo!  :  -)

Cool like Ms. Perry

Is it just me or does anyone want to wear two different colour shoes?! I have had this thought for the LOONNGGEESSSSTTT while but I have been too scared to do it!! Seeing Katy Perry do it,  only served to "fan the flames of my desire" (lol too much like a romance novel??) And btw she rocked it out like nobody's business!!

Sigh......

Yours,

It's a black top blur but i'm pretty sure it ruled... ; -)

The Vow

So I just got done watching "The Vow". First impression, not what I thought it was going to be. Second impression, I kinda liked it. At first I was really annoyed when I realised that it wasn't a gonna have a typical fairy tale ending (we all know how much I love my fairy tales), but then I thought let's be realistic; this movie would be really long (even including passage of time) if they really showed how they fell in love with each other again. So I said okaaaayyyyy.......

Then I went to google to see what critics thought about it, because a) Channing Tatum (though quite the eye candy) is still lacking a lot a bit in the acting department, b) Rachel McAdams' acting was very different from her usual stuff (in my opinion of course) and c) It's based on a real story!!!

I am always interested to discover the truth behind a movie, so of course I consulted my bff and I was indeed surprised. About the only thing that stuck to the story was that they were married, they had an accident, and the wife lost her memory. Guess what, they were Christians?! (Say whaaattttttt?!) Annnndddddd in real life they didn't get a divorce! They stuck with it, which is pretty cool since they now are happy together (they haven't given us a reason to believe otherwise) and they have two children. She also NEVER regained her memory. Which is also very interesting, and extremely commendable (on the husband's part). There are lot's of people who would have given up, but they didn't. The couple, in an interview with Fox News said that they relied heavily on their faith to keep their marriage going, Phillipians 4:13 moment "I can do anything through Christ who strengthen's me." Picking up the pieces of a life upset by an accident, which resulted in amnesia of one of the persons involved, I can only imagine could not have been very easy at all.

But back to the movie, the romantic in me is screaming "Yessssssss!!!" (hahahahaha) I liked it. After getting over my initial disappointment (because I thought it would have been waaayyy different) I realised that it was actually a good movie, minus the weird acting scenes and all that jazz. They still ended up together in the end, and that's all I really wanted to see anyways : ). I wouldn't buy it, or go out of my way to see it again, but it was a nice watch.

Lizzie  : -)

A little bit of truth

In my Pintrest browsings I came across this piece not too long ago....

I immediately thought "So true!!" Do you know how many times I have stopped myself from saying things or doing things because I was afraid of being wrong?! Whilst people may not want to admit it, I am almost positive that I am not the only one out there with this ridiculous fear. Yes, I said it, ridiculous. Why is it that despite the fact that we have been taught (well I was at least) that being wrong is not a crime; that it is in fact good for us because we can, and will learn from our mistakes, that we continuously get in our own way?! Do you know? Because I don't? Yes, I can conjure up a few reasons, but none of them seem good enough. Especially when all it boils down to being able to accept the fact that I can be wrong and it isn't the end of the world because it is a learning experience and guess what? Life goes on....(wait, what now?!) Life can be, not only more creative but so much richer!! I want to test this theory, will you test it with me?!

Yours,

Here's to hoping... : )

Who attend's class anyways?!

So you know those pictures that have been circling the internet highlighting various stereotypes? They say stuff like Mexicans: What society thinks we do, What our friends thing we do..etc.... Well a fellow student, in seeming homage to those posts, did one about our class specifically. It wasn't as elaborate as the ones that are circling the net, but it really made me laugh, especially since it is true...

Yours,

Class is overrated anyways... : -)

Happy tuesday lovers!!

So I had this shirt when I was younger, it was really pretty and I believe that it was one of my favourites. It had a sunflower in the middle, with little bees buzzing all around it and by each bee it had different phrases, which I would categorise as words of encouragement. For example "Bee honest; Bee happy; Bee yourself..." and so went the parade. Then today I saw this picture...

Source: Pintrest via this blog

...and it reminded me of that shirt. So as an encouragement to all, I know that it is extremely hard not to conform in this day especially when it seems like every other thing and person is screaming at us to conform. But stand your ground and be true to yourself, in the end it will be worth it and you will be the better for it! As for me I would reaaalllyyy love to be usually awesome self *toot toot* [kiddinggggg :-)] in these babies....

Just looking at these shoes kept me going during exams last year...*sigh* I thought many a time "to credit? or not to credit?" I decided not to credit :( At $1500 USD, when all that's coming into my pocket is the steadily declining Jamaican dollar? Doubtful.......

Wishing you a lovely bee-ing yourself day...:-)

Spoons

We see and hear daily about people who recently become diagnosed with various chronic illnesses, for example the very popular (for want of a better word) cancer. Be that as it may (and even I am guilty of this) we still take for granted the time that we have and the strength with which we carry out our daily activities. A very good friend of mine had been living with Fibromyalgia for awhile now; and whilst I understand what this chronic illness is and what it entails, I will never truly grasp the concept of what it is to live with this disease. She sent out an email recently with a story from a a blog "But you don't look sick" which she hoped would help put her sickness into perspective for us.

This story is a true experience the author had with her friend in which she tried to explain what it was like to live with Lupus. The illustration she used was a pile of spoons. In essence the spoons represented the amount of things she had to do in a day. The interesting thing however is that with every activity she did a spoon was taken away, but in going through the daily activities by midday almost all the spoons were gone and there were many other things that needed to be considered.

To be really honest, my heart instantly felt heavy. I read that story, and even though already I knew that living with her illness day in and day out was and still is a tremendous burden she will forever have to bear, what she goes through on a daily basis really hit home. You never truly value the time you have until it is taken away.

If you have ever had a friend or just known someone with a chronic illness I encourage you to follow the link and read the story. Above all things appreciate the fact that the time that they choose to spend with you is precious don't take it for granted, and live life realising that anyone even you could end up in their position so it's worth it to take the time to understand what they are going through. God's willing when I graduate and I am a practising physician, I am glad that I have this experience to draw upon so that I can keep my perspective when dealing with my patients. It will be worth it in their eyes I believe, that even though there is a certain amount of professionalism that is necessary, to show compassion.

Yours,

Use your spoons wisely...:-)

Who the heck is St. Patrick?!

So St. Patrick's Day isn't as popular a holiday in Jamaica as it is in let's just say the rest of the world, our Irish population has never been high enough I suppose. But having lived in the US for five years, and having been introduced to the holiday, moving back home won't make me any less aware of it than I was when I lived away. I never stopped to question though, why the day is being celebrated or who this man St. Patrick is? That never stopped me from celebrating it with my friends, or course ;-) My complete knowledge of him ends at "patron saint of Ireland". So today, away from all the revelries,  "in my own little corner, in my own little chair" (or just simply on my bed) I decided to do a little research, and for those of you who know me well appreciate the fact that I love my history so this was just as much fun, if indeed not MORE fun, that actually donning a snazzy little green outfit and getting ready for a night on the town :-)

So for all those out there who ever wondered, St. Patrick is a saint... *gasps in shock* He was born in Roman Britain during the 5th century and was kidnapped and brought to Ireland as a slave at age 16. He is credited with bringing Christianity to Ireland and legend has it that he explained the Holy Trinity using the leaves of the native Irish clover, the shamrock. This day is celebrated as his, because it is believed that it was on this day that he died. Traditionally, because this day falls during lent, the prohibitions against the consumption of meat would be relaxed and people would dance and feast and just overall have a good time. My source is the History Channel website if you want to read some more or watch a video, should curiosity come knocking.

As a side note I always find it interesting that so many of the holidays that we celebrate have religious roots, and they always seem to be forgotten, pushed aside, or covered up and replaced with a PC explanation which pleases everyone, which generally, more often than not doesn't include God. Just a thought really.

Ah well lovelies, I leave you with an Irish blessing:

May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind always be at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields and,
Until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.

Yours,

Happy St. Patrick's day!!

On seeing a Prince

Of all the people in the world how many can say that they have seen a Prince? And no I don't mean on the television, or in a picture. A real live Prince less than five feet away!! I can now officially number myself among the few who have. HRH Prince Henry of Wales, commonly known as Prince Harry visited Jamaica last week as apart of the Diamond Jubilee tour of the Commonwealth nations Belize, the Bahamas and Jamaica. I saw him!!

It didn't happen as I thought it would have. My friends and I made elaborate plans none of which panned out. In the end I sent my friend with my camera up to the Faculty of Law on our university campus and resigned myself to the fact that though the Prince was a less than a mile away from me I would not get to see him because I forgot that I had a prior engagement which I could not cancel. How LAME!!! I would NEVER get an opportunity this good ever again, I cried a little inside. However, I must have done something right, because God bestowed upon me a most loving smile and allowed me to catch the procession it was leaving campus. It was then that I saw him! Not as great a story as I had hoped for when I envisioned it in my head, definitely not one for the grandkids, but I am happy nonetheless.

An acquaintance of mine actually shook his hand. She was determined, walked straight past the police officers and hid inside the Law Faculty until she spotted an opportunity, jumped at it and made her wish come through. I tell you bwoy confidence is a hell of a ting ennuh!

My pictures as usual are not that fantastic (they're quite terrible actually), but this time I have someone else to blame I believe she did the best she could though... ;-)

Blue Circle!! Blue Circle!!

This one is actually alot better (you can see his outline in the car) but not by much.

I must say though that this year so far has been quite an interesting one. I have already seen Celine Dion and Kes and the Band perform and last week I saw a Prince!! I don't know man this year is shaping up to be quite a GREAT one!!

The Best is Yet to Come...:-)

Kes and the Band

AAAAHHHHHH SOCCCAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!! *sighs happily* Now I must admit I was never a soca fanatic. Strange coming from a Caribbean person right? WRONG! Actually there are lot's of people who, on realising my new love, have admitted to not really fancying the music genre. Maaannnnnnnnn are they missing out as I most definitely was.

There were always a few songs that I liked, for example the very popular "Roll it Gyal" by Alison Hinds, which doesn't even really have the typical "soca" sound if you catch my drift. Don't catch it? Let me introduce you to my best friend Gooooooggggllleeeeeee... ;-).

Now in preparation for Bacchanal (Jamaican Carnival) I started listening to soca, and I found myself enjoying it alot more than I thought I would. Then I went to Bacchanal Fridays and I swear "they had me at ticket please?" The music alone makes you feel excited and if you're not jumping and waving your flag/rag/towel or whatever you have on you, you are destined to stand out like a sore thumb. But wait it gets better! Kes and the Band were scheduled to perform and maaaaaannnnnnnnn dem did shooooottttttttt!!! Set the place a fire like nobody's business. Needless to say it was a great night and a fantastic wind down after a week of anatomy, haematology, neuroscience and cell biology *puke* Of course I was a maniac and went crazy with the pictures but don't worry "i'll hit you with my best shots"... (please laugh lol)

See some of his band and dancers

Not too bad for an amateur photographer huh?!

Di vibes cyan done...:-)
